He was greatly moved by the unhygienic ways which she adopted to manage her period days simply because they were a BPL family and she had to make a tradeoff between a proper sanitary napkin and milk for the family.
When he realized his wife had to choose between buying family meals and buying her monthly "supplies," Arunachalam Muruganantham vowed to help her solve the problem of the sanitary pad.
