I always used powder, but the manuals all specify pods as do Techs. I do miss using the powder in both cups, as I grew up thinking the detergent for the pre-wash and then the main wash was what contributed to clean, sanitary dishes. Because I have had such good luck with Finish, the pods work well for me now.
